The T2i terminal tractor is smart in more ways than one

Kalmar’s smart terminal tractor has improved equipment and better technology to give you happier operators and a positive impact to your bottom line.

Trade makes the modern world go round. To stay on top of the competition we need to pay careful attention to both people and equipment. This is why Kalmar has developed many clever ways to improve your drivers’ operating experience and the operational productivity of our new T2i Terminal Tractor.

“We’ve improved the driver experience with reduced cabin noise, smoother gear changes and more responsive steering and braking,” says Gina Lopez, Vice President Terminal Tractors at Kalmar. “The driver has excellent visibility, a comfortable working environment and easy and safe access to the cab. Now your driver will improve productivity by being able to concentrate on the job at hand.”

Always improving

Kalmar has worked carefully with our customers to determine exactly what they need to make their work safer, more efficient and more productive. We have introduced a number of improvements to the T2i.

“Improved hydraulics will allow your drivers to move loads quicker, with faster 5th wheel lifting and lowering speeds,” Lopez continues. “We’ve updated transmission software to improve efficiency. We have developed new positioning for the brake pedal so your drivers have better control and less strain.”

The improved T2i Terminal Tractor can also be paired with Kalmar Insight to provide even more “smart” benefits. Kalmar Insight is a performance management tool for cargo handling operations. You get real-time data from multiple sources, covering everything from one machine or operator to all of your sites.

The IoT works for you

Kalmar’s experience with the Internet of Things has taught us that data is one thing, but actionable data is another. That is why Kalmar Insight gives you information you can act upon, such as maintenance management for equipment or the need for additional training for operators.

Kalmar Insight can help you reduce downtime and increase availability rates with your assets,” Lopez says. “You can improve safety and efficiency while helping to reduce overall operating costs. It even works with other manufacturers’ equipment.”

The T2i comes as a complete package so you can concentrate on your tasks instead of worrying about your equipment. The T2i Terminal Tractor includes two years of free access to Kalmar insight to monitor your entire fleet, two years / 6,000 hours standard warranty on your T2i Terminal Tractor and 7 years or 10,000 hours extended warranty on your T2i’s frame.

Confidence leads to success

Kalmar has about 400,000 items across our spare parts business to provide for our clients’ planned and unplanned needs. The data collected from thousands of machines is analysed to constantly improve the service, becoming more cost effective and productive.

“Maintenance schedules and spare parts packages can be automated based upon how you operate your equipment, which we can optimise by analysing data with Insight,” Lopez says. “You will receive notifications when your equipment is in need of preventative maintenance and the purchase of appropriate spare parts can be initiated directly from the tool to Kalmar’s e-commerce platform. This ensures you have the right parts at the right place at the right time.”
